Does Kluppy automatically detect my keyboard?
Yes. Kluppy works out your keyboard layout the first time you sign in and sets it up for you, without asking.
How it does it
- When you sign in, it reads the signals your browser and operating system provide — your language and region settings, mainly — and picks the closest layout.
- While you type, it quietly checks whether the result matches. A browser can’t read your physical keyboard directly, but the characters you produce give it away: certain mistakes only happen when the on-screen layout and the real keyboard disagree.
- If it spots a mismatch, it offers to switch. It never switches on its own at that point, and if you decline, it won’t ask again.
Why it doesn’t just ask you upfront
Because “ISO or ANSI?” is a question almost nobody can answer, and getting it wrong is worse than not asking. Detecting it and correcting course with real evidence works better than a form.
You’re always in charge. You can set the layout yourself in Settings → Keyboard layout, and once you choose one by hand, automatic detection stops touching it.
If you’re using Kluppy through a school and your school has set a single layout for everyone, that setting takes priority and the option appears locked.
