Does it matter if I use a laptop keyboard or a desktop keyboard?
It doesn’t matter for learning: the position of the letters is the same, and the technique you train is identical. What changes is the feel and the key travel, so when switching from one to the other, you will only notice a few minutes of adaptation, nothing more.
Real differences
- Key travel: laptops have short-travel keys, while desktop keyboards usually have longer travel. It’s just a matter of getting used to it.
- Numeric keypad: many laptops don’t have one. It doesn’t matter: Kluppy’s number levels use the top row, not the numeric keypad.
- Size and spacing: on very small laptops, the keys are closer together, and it might be slightly harder to position your hands correctly at first.
A piece of advice: if you plan to use both regularly, practice on both. Muscle memory adapts quickly, so you won’t depend on one specific keyboard.
