Can I change my keyboard layout halfway through the course?
Yes, whenever you want. Change it in Settings → Keyboard layout.
Your progress is safe. Your level, your stats, and your achievements don’t depend on the keyboard, so nothing is lost or reset when you switch. This holds whether you change it in Kluppy, swap your physical keyboard, or change your operating system’s layout.
What does change is what fits your new keyboard:
- The on-screen keyboard is redrawn with the right shape and the right keys.
- The finger guide and the spoken instructions follow the new positions.
- If the new layout has keys the previous one didn’t — or is missing some — the lesson order adjusts accordingly.
Expect a few days of adjustment in your speed. That’s normal muscle memory: it’s your fingers relearning positions, not your progress going backwards. It comes back quickly.
One detail worth knowing: keys you’ve already drilled on the previous layout keep the practice you’ve put in, and keys that are new to you start from scratch. Go back to the previous layout and you’ll find things exactly as you left them.
Practice language is a separate setting. You can change it too, in Settings → Practice languages, and it doesn’t affect your progress either. If you’re using Kluppy through a school, your school may have fixed the layout for everyone; in that case the option appears locked.
