What are Benchmarks?
A Benchmark is a reference test: a standard prose text of 300 to 400 characters, with full punctuation, to measure your real speed and accuracy. It doesn’t teach anything new and is not part of the course: it is used to grade you.
What it is used for
- Measuring your starting point before you begin, or your progress after a few weeks.
- Unlocking Level 1 if you prefer not to do the hand placement level with the camera: completing a benchmark also opens up the course.
- Comparing apples to apples: since the text is normal prose and not a focus exercise, the score you get there is very close to your actual typing speed.
