How long does it take to learn to type without looking at the keyboard?
Our estimate is 20 to 30 hours of actual practice to complete the course. With 10 or 15 minutes a day, that’s a few months; with longer sessions, much less. But you will notice that you stop looking at the keyboard much sooner: in the first few weeks, as early as the home row.
Why this range
Levels are not cleared by elapsed time, but by accumulated keystrokes: you have to “pay” with repetitions. That is why the total depends on your pace, not on the calendar, and why someone who practices half an hour a day finishes in weeks what takes someone else months.
What matters most is not how much you practice a day, but how many days you practice. Muscle memory consolidates while sleeping: three 15-minute sessions over three days are worth more than one 45-minute session.
