Where the numbers come from
Typing time = keystrokes per day ÷ keystrokes per minute. The saving is the difference between that time at the current speed and at the target speed. One word = 5 keystrokes.
Business
-
Cost per hour: £22.73
Median hourly pay for full-time employees in the UK (£19.67, April 2025) plus employer National Insurance (15% above £5,000 a year) and the minimum 3% workplace pension contribution.

Current speed: 40 WPM
Typical for someone who never learned touch typing. In the largest published study (168,000 people) the average was 52 WPM, but people who volunteer for a typing test tend to type faster than average. Change it to your team's.
Aalto University, Observations on Typing from 136 Million Keystrokes (2018) -
