Without a doubt, the pandemic has turned our lives upside down. And this has also been the case with touch typing for kids. Just under a year ago, it was unthinkable that we would be confined for weeks, that we wouldn't be able to go out for a drink with friends normally, or that to do the shopping we would have to queue and respect capacity limits. It felt strange to us when we saw an Asian person wearing a face mask "because they have a cold and don't want to infect others." Now wearing a mask is mandatory and washing hands is a necessity.
In the education sector, we have found ourselves with virtual classes, via video calls, email, and WhatsApp. Many of the usual tools and resources in classrooms have had to be adapted. Teachers have had to make a rapid and continuous effort to adapt in the least traumatic way possible to the new situation.
What has happened to us during the pandemic?

During this 20/21 school year, we will use Discord as a platform to communicate. In it, we have different virtual rooms/classrooms where we will meet at a specific time to deliver our scheduled session. In addition to this, there are a series of rooms we can join to have a good time and chat, or simply play and send each other challenges in real-time.
Otherwise, learning touch typing will be exactly the same.
In short, the pandemic has made us evolve, mature, and see things from another perspective. We have surely accelerated certain changes in our society and as individuals who have had to adapt quickly to major changes.
For all these reasons, we firmly believe that touch typing is an absolutely indispensable skill, and what better way than to be able to learn online, at our own pace, without anything disrupting our progress and learning.
